OSH Coordinator

In accordance with the legal provision under the Occupational Safety and Health (Plant Requiring Certificate of Fitness) Regulations 2024, Regulation 12(2) states that an owner or occupier must ensure that any steam boiler is operated and supervised by a competent person who is a steam boiler operator as specified in the Twelfth Schedule. Accordingly, all steam boiler operators are required to apply for the Steam Boiler Operator competency from the Department to be authorized to operate and supervise steam boilers at their workplace. One of the requirements for registration as a Competent Person (Steam Boiler Operator) is attendance and successful completion of a Steam Boiler Operator course provided by a training provider recognized by the Department. Therefore, to ensure the quality and standard of training provided, approval will only be granted to training provider who meet the criteria set by the Department.

Module Learning Outcomes
  • This training course will help participant to gain a high-level understanding of Steam Boiler Operation and Maintenance including improved occupational health and safety performance and governance, reduced risks, and enhanced legal compliance. In addition, it will give participant sufficient knowledge to engage with who’s are operating, implementing, or auditing health and safety management systems that are aligned to Steam Boiler requirements under OSHA 2022: Occupational Safety and Health (Plant Requiring Certificate of Fitness) Regulations 2024; P.U (A) 99

  • At the end of the program, participants should be able to Apply, Describe, Ilustrate, Identify, Operate and Maintenance of Steam Boilers as follows:

  • Apply the act, regulation, requirement and duties for steam boiler personal
  • Describe steam boiler components and functions
  • Illustrate operation of steam boiler and auxiliary system
  • Identify the major hazards that’s related to operation and maintaining the boiler and steam systems.
  • Operate the steam boilers and steam systems with the safe conditions
  • Describe the boiler commissioning, operations, trouble-shooting and maintenance processes
  • Sit for the examination of the Steam Boiler Driver’s Certificate of Competency Grade 1 & 2 with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health, Malaysia (DOSH).
